Audio delay with surround sound

marcoc

Whenever I play a video that uses high quality audio such as Dolby Digital, the audio stream has a noticeable delay. It has been mentioned multiple times on the previous support community (https://support.google.com/chromecast/thread/75244430/chromecast-with-google-tv-audio-sync-issue?), but still there is no fix. The problem for me occurs when my TV is connected to an audio system using HDMI ARC.

Somehow the issue for me only happens using the Kodi or Amazon Prime apps, not for Disney and Netflix, but for others it might be different.

A workaround is to disable high quality audio streams on the Chromecast and use only stereo audio, but ofcourse this is not a solution and it was incorrectly marked as a solution in the previous topic.

Hey there,
Sorry for the late response, but I wanted to drop in here to help.

I understand that this surround sound issue can be confusing but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Just wanted to double check to see if you were still needing help on this? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

Please let me know.

Best regards,
Garrett DS

Everyone in this thread needs help on this issue that started a year ago at launch.  It makes the Chromecast unusable.  Please do not close until engineers have resolved the problem.  Other threads keep getting closed with no action from Google.

I have the same issues.  I have a Sonos Playbase and prefer to watch films in high quality audio.  I have lip sync on all apps unless I switch off 'Surround Sound'.  Please please can the engineers come up with a solution for this. I don't like having to choose between high quality audio or all films looking like they've been dubbed.

I have the same issue. When I connect the chromecast with google tv to my Samsung tv the sound is out of sync in the Disney app when playing Dolby atmos sound. I have Samsung soundbar q900t connected to the tv hdmi arc input. The chromecast firmware is up to date.

My solution that seems to work is to connect the chromecast directly to the soundbar and pass through the video to the tv. In that way the sound is in sync with the video when I play surround sound like Dolby atmos.

I rather would have connected the chromecast directly to the tv so hopefully this problem will be fixed. But as long the problem exist I will try this way,

Hey folks,

Sorry about the late response on this thread, but this is a bug that Google is aware of. If any of you who are experiencing this issue has a chance, it would be tremendously helpful if you could re-create the issue, then submit feedback via Google Home with logs enabled to help the engineering team out.

I'm sorry I couldn't have provided any updates on the issue, but if you had any other questions or concerns, please let me know.

Best regards,

Jeran
