Hi,
I have a twofold problem with BBC iPlayer.
Bought a Chromecast with Google TV at Peter Jones, plugged it into our TV, installed and it's now up and running. What's not running though are any British TV apps. This is weird, because (a) the Chromecast was bought in the UK and (b) is used within the UK. When trying to install e.g. BBC iPlayer the Chromecast will tell me that this app isn't available in my country. I figured potentially my Google Playstore account could be linked to Germany, where I originally registered my Google account 10 years ago, but upon checking, everything runs off my UK address, UK credit cards etc. and I haven't been out of the UK with any of my devices in >2 years. Any help on how to resolve this is much appreciated.
2nd problem: When casting from Chrome on my Laptops webbrowser to the Chromecast I can cast on-demand programs fine and can also cast the current BBC livestream. Unlike in the browser, I cannot however move forward or backward through the livestream which I find to be an oddity given this proves no problem at all in the browser that I'm casting from.
Looking forward to any help I can get here. Personally find it extremly disappointing btw that Google provides no telephone or direct support for its devices unlike Amazon where you can call their hotline and get things fixed. That just as a side note from an otherwise avid Google product user.

Hey @eltibu the BBC iPlayer is certified to work with the CCwGTV and the CC dongle from 2013. It appears your issue is related to where your Play account was set up despite having been able to use it in the past. You may have to unravel how Google sees your account because all apps aren't available in all regions. We can't assist with account issues since we don't have access in the forums. Play does have a contact number, it's all a matter of being in the right forum for your particular issue. You can begin the dialog to unravel your account using this link.
The second part of your question I don't have an answer for -- but I can guess. My guess is live TV won't scrub because they don't want you to skip commercials. Sometimes programmers require that when rebroadcasting a signal and while using a television, hence the difference between your TV and browser. Again, that's my best guess.

Thanks @GothamNY. Got it resolved now. The solution involved deleting my US and German Play Store profiles entirely, then asking support to set me up as UK only. Finally, one needs to clear the cache of the Play Store app on Chromecast and restart the device for the changes to go through. Thank you very much again for your help.

Thanks @GothamNY . I've reached out to Play Support to see if we can unravel this, will report when I hear back.

Good luck. If you didn't do this, it may not have been done correctly or only ported partway. Note that moving countries may mean you lose access to content that's only available in Germany. So there's a lot to consider -- you may have to weigh how important BBC iPlayer is to you in that regard.

@eltibu glad you got it sorted out. Did you lose any content, or haven't you unearthed that just yet. Or were they able to move everything without incident?

I haven't experienced any content loss so far, though the move came with the disclaimer that content might be lost.

Hey there!
It looks like eltibu was able to fix this issue, so I'm locking the thread. As always, feel free to make a new thread if you have any more questions or concerns.
Thank you for your help on this, GothamNY!
Best regards,
Jeran
