Bluetooth Pairing and Audio DOESN'T WORK on Chromecast with Google TV

Ok, I'll start by saying that given all the other issues I've had with these and pretty much every other Google device I am not one bit surprised this doesn't work as it's supposed to.

I have paired my Chromecast to my Google Nest mini speaker so I can use it as the speaker when watching movies etc.

Now given these are both Google products you would think that this would make it more compatible and reliable. Well, you would be wrong.

1st Issue: The sound is completely out of sync with what is being displayed on the TV. Now I'm talking multiple seconds worth of lag not just half a second.

2nd Issue: The devices will only stay connected for 5-10min at the most when the speaker disconnects from the Chromecast.

3rd Issue: When the Chromecast and speaker separate the Chromecast goes completely nuts, Volume goes all the way to max then all the way to minimum. The device becomes completely uncontrollable to the point I need to pull the power.

Now before you ask:

are these devices up to date? YES

Move the speaker closer? It is sitting right underneath the TV/Chromecast

Have you factory reset the Chromecast? YES. I have lost count of the number of times I have done this to try and resolve multiple issues and it never does anything so don't ask me to do it again.

This is yet another fine example of how poor the quality control and coding is on these devices.

Hi Chook71,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. We’re sorry for the delay in response. The Google Nest speakers and/or displays don't support being a slave speaker or soundbar for Chromecast with Google TV. These smart speakers are home automation devices first, and speakers function second. You may witness it working for a moment as a Bluetooth speaker, but as soon as it activates its smart functions (calendar check, routines, recognizing voice queues, etc.), it loses its connection to the Chromecast device. It’s best to pair a true Bluetooth speaker, which will function as a slave audio output. There’s nothing wrong with your devices; it is by design, which is why it happens.

I hope this sheds some light on the situation. Let us know if you have other questions.

Thanks,

Kimy
