I was having overheating issues with my previous Chromecast so purchased a new one.
I have set it up, the video is working but the audio is not. It was working well with the previous Chromecast but now I'm not getting any sound.

Could you give us some more information?
Are you using the TV speakers or external speakers by using HDMI ARC?
Did you try manually setting the Audio settings within the Google TV settings? 😁
Please check if there is an update available for your Chromecast.

F.Y.I Mine won't output 5.1 through AVR, just get silence, tried everything since new, bit of a dud.

Mürray and Texml320, thanks for reaching out. A few questions: What Chromecast device are we working on? Could you confirm all connections are securely plugged in. Is it happening when you are casting from an app or Chrome browser? Also what steps have you taken so far?

Thank you for your patience with this thread. I have no clue what made things change, but the Chromecast is working at the moment.
It is the HD Chromecast (Not the 4k).
I cannot tell you now if the connections were all plugged in.
I was only getting Visuals at one point, the Sound only at one point. I have both now.
I had to just give it some time for everything to cool down.
I was (and am) using a SVIC projector (that says it's Hd ready but isn't)
I've got the Chromecast plugged into a converter to go from HDMI to AV to get a clearer image, and so that I can also connect my sound system to hear the audio from the Chromecast.
It was challenging to set the sound manually, I don't know if I did anything to make it work.
And everything was up to date.

That would be great. I didn't know how to lock the thread so it kept going without the need to keep going, I just couldn't stop it all.
