CEC audio bug

Hi

The CEC audio from my Google TV is often bugged. This happens right after starting up, never when things have been running for a while.

The main symptom is my Sonos sound bar still emits audio at volume level 0, audio coming from for instance the Youtube app on the Google TV. Google TV is controlling the audio through the TV (a Sony) and that part seemingly works as the on screen volume indicator moves just as it should. But no matter what device I use to move the volume level to 0 (Google TV remote, Sony TV remote or Sonos app) audio is still audible and rather loud at that.

I have had no issues with my setup for several years prior to introducing the Google TV and I have a similar device, a Fire Stick 4K, which have no problems.

Any suggestions?

Mvh.

Hello Torkil,

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your device. Please reboot your Sonos soundbar and Chromecast with Google TV (4K) then, plug it in on a different HDMI port on your TV. Resetting your Chromecast with Google TV (4K) might also help.

Regards,

Jennifer

Hi

Thanks for replying. I have done basic debugging before seeking assistance.

I also have a ticket with Nest support who  instructs me to factory reset the thing again and again, as if  doing the same thing over and over might miraculously yield differen results.

I have a thread on the Sonos forum[1] as well with a bunch of info and the consensus is the chromecast is misbehaving with CEC volume level.

I'm not familiar with adb but I have it configured. Any suggestions on how to use that to debug the issue?

Mvh.

Hello Torkil,

Got it. Could you please try disconnecting your Sonos device and leave the sound in the Chromecast with Google TV (4K), then check if the issue will persist?

Thanks,

Jennifer
