Chromecast keeps losing wifi connection. Error message is that the internet connection has dropped but my router and modem have not dropped the internet connection.  All other devices hooked onto the wifi are working. There is no internet connection loss in my are either. I have checked every issue that could cause a disconnection, and the Chromecast device is the only thing that is giving me error messages on internet connection. Was there a recent update to the firmware that could have caused the error?

Quick questions: what type of Chromecast device do you have? What's the LED light status on your Chromecast?

 

Give these steps a try:

 

  1. Move your devices closer to each other.
  2. Reboot your Wi-Fi router.
  3. Reboot your Chromecast.
  4. Reset your Chromecast.

  • Still not working which is weird. It works when connected to a VPN but connection is too slow.

The light is white and the issue is with the device as another Chromecast works fine.

I had to do a factory reset and can connect to WIFI. The update had to corrupt my device.

Yes after factory reset I can connect to wifi.
