Can anything be done for a chromecast thst no longer outputs video?

My chromecast just died, black screen and sometimes static but never picture anymore. It does still show up in the home app, but no picture. To fix I have tried the following;

  1. Make sure your mobile devices and Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network.
    1. Check your Chromecast Wi-Fi network.
      1. Chromecast with Google TV (HD) or Chromecast with Google TV (4K): At the top right of your TV screen, select your account iconGoYames_0-1680210718272.png

        Network & Internet.
      2. Other Chromecasts: On your mobile device, open the Home appGoYames_2-1680210718276.jpeg

        Wi-Fi.
    2. You can usually check the Wi-Fi network of your mobile device in its Settings app.
  2. If your router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, make sure your Chromecast is on the 5 GHz network.
  3. Update your router's firmware, if needed. Sometimes routers have bugs, and there are firmware fixes to address them. Make sure your router is running the most updated software.
  4. Restart your Chromecast. Unplug the power cableGoYames_8-1680210718277.png

plug the power cable back in.
  5. Restart your modem or router. Check the manufacturer for instructions.
  6. To help prevent Wi-Fi or Bluetooth interference, move your Chromecast further away from your TV. Also, don't let it touch other devices, wires, or cables.
  7. Use an Ethernet adapter to connect your Chromecast to your router. This will give you a direct, hardwire connection to the internet and alleviate your home Wi-Fi network.
  8. Check that your wireless network can support the number of devices connected to it.
  9. Move your router to within 20 feet of your Chromecast.
  10. Factory reset your Chromecast.
  11. Tried with power supply of other working chromecasts
  12. Tried in multiple monitors/tvs and ports. (Confirmed ports are working with a different chromecast)

Not 100% sure how old it is, but it is definitely broken. Can anything be done?

Hey there GoYames,

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that black screen issue? If not, with the troubleshooting steps you've already tried, it may be best to speak with Chromecast support regarding this, as they would have more tools to dig a little deeper. If you don't mind, please fill out this form to have support reach out to you via e-mail.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jeran

Hiya GoYames,

No problem at all; thank you for filling out that form! You should have someone from Chromecast Support send you an email within a few days, so keep an eye out for that. In the meantime, do you have any more questions or concerns I can address? If not, I'll go ahead and lock this thread in 24 hours.

Best regards,
Jeran
