Can't Cast from my PC Google Chrome to my TV with Chromecast built-in

RicardoM11

Hello,

I've been unable to cast from my PC Google Chrome to my TV with Chromecast built-in.

Previously I was able to cast without any problems but now when I try to cast it shows the message "No devices found".

I've tried to cast from two other different computers connected to the same network and I'm able to cast without any problem.

On the PC in which I'm having problems, I've updated Google Chrome (I'm now on version 123.0.6312.106), I've cleared cache and forced reload and I've even installed Google Canary (I've seen this suggestion in other post from you), all of them without success. I've also tried to connect with Wi-Fi or cable connection, none of them work.

For the TV, I tried removing updates from the chromecast built-in, clearing cache, forcely stopping and restarting, however none of them worked. I keep getting "No devices found" from the PC. Chromecast built-in version on my TV is 1.68.374976.

If you could help I would be really grateful!

Best regards

Hi there everyone

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

It sounds like you've been hitting a roadblock with casting from your PC. No worries. Let's see if we can get things working with your Chromecast.

First, check if your Chromecast is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your PC. If you have a dual-band router, please ensure both devices are on the same band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz).

Next, verify that your PC's operating system is up-to-date and supports casting. And power cycle both devices.

If none of those solutions work. Disable any recently installed Chrome extensions to see if that might be causing a conflict.

Finally, you can try factory resetting your TV (if applicable) and adding it again to the Google Home app.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Angel

Hi Angel,

Thank you for reaching back. I had already tried all these steps before creating this post and I've been researching through this forum to try to find a solution, but nothing seemed to work.

From all the tests I've tried, the problem can only be from my PC/ my pc Google Chrome, because as I've told you, I can cast from a different PC to my TV, and for about a month ago I could also cast from my PC (the one which is having problemas) without any problems.

I've also tried do cast both with Wi-Fi and Cable connection so it can't be a band problem.

I'm also having the same problem for about 2 weeks now. I think there was a Chrome update... and after that, it can't find any devices. I can cast from my phone and my roommate can cast from their laptop still... but not my laptop.

My guess is, no one from Google is on this thread or they do not know why it's borked.

yes it's possible, but they need to fix it, it can't be a problem from a single user/pc, as we are at least 4 people with the same problem

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reaching out to our community. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Since it's not a separate Chromecast device, I recommend reaching out to our friends at the Google TV community. They're the best team to help you troubleshoot Chromecast's built-in concerns.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

I've just bought my factory new Chromecast 4.0 4k and I found this thread looking for problem fix.

I also cannot cast anything from PC Google Chrome to my Chromecast. Tried to use two different laptops with up-to date Google Chrome. One laptop with Windows 10, second one with Ubuntu.

All devices are in the same wifi network, on the same bandwidth. Tried with 2,4 GHz and with 5 GHz. I've tested with only one enabled bandwidth in router (with reboots after configuration changes) so there was no way to have different bandwidths. Wifi signal was strong. I also disabled all the firewalls for this tests. Devices can see each other over network.

And this is only problem with casting from Google Chrome. Casting from mobile apps works.

But I bought Chromecast to cast from PC.
Google - would you fix this problem or should I try to return this Chromecast to shop?

Hi there @Dirkuu

I'm sorry you're encountering this situation, I appreciate your patience.

To better understand the situation, I'd also like to ask a few questions:

  • When did you first experience the casting issue?
  • Did you perform a factory reset on your Chromecast?

It's helpful to know that casting from mobile apps works, as this suggests the Chromecast itself might be functional.

Keep me posted. I'm happy to help.

Regards,

Melany
