I have a Chromecast with Google TV and am having issues with the remote. It seemed OK other than the batteries not lasting long but then yesterday after I replaced the batteries the remote started getting really hot. Now the remote won't work at all but still gets hot if I put batteries in it. Any ideas?

Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear that you are having an issue with your Voice Remote.
A few questions — what is the LED light status in your Voice Remote? Was anything spilled onto the device? Can you confirm if the metal contacts of the battery terminal look contaminated, blocked, or discolored?
Try these steps and observe the behavior of your voice Remote:
Go to Settings > System > About > Factory Reset. Select Factory Reset again and select Erase to confirm the reset.
Replace all batteries at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not use lithium-ion or any other batteries with rated voltage above 1.5 V.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
To confirm, nothing was spilled on the remote.
I purchased the google chromecast about 8 months ago. Roughly 1 month ago, i replaced the batteries that came with the remote. Thought it was odd they didn't last that long, but accepted it.
Just wanted to get you all the info.
A week ago, i went to turn the TV on. Nothing. Dead batteries. Strange. Replaced the battries and nothing. No lights on the LED. I put the remote down to grab another remote. Got that remote set up and working on another TV. I picked up the bad remote and it was really hot. It was just sucking out all the power in the battries. The new battries were almost dead.

I had exactly the same symptoms except my remote had only been used for about 1 month.
i replaced the batteries and no light comes on. The remote just got really hot.

Exactly. I'm not sure what the issue is, but new batteries did not fix the issue. And to add, before, I'm able to use my phone as a remote. But after resetting my chromecast, it won't allow me to acces it without pairing the remote. How can I pair it if it's dead? Please do not suggest of resetting google tv if the remote is not working.

My remote is also heating up and doesn't work. Only just started 2 days ago. No LED activity either.
