Chromecast HD no remote. Reset now needs remote

I have a Google TV Chromecast that came without a remote.  I had unplugged it and decided to use it again after almost a year.  It wasn't working correctly so I went to Google Home and deleted it figuring I could just start from scratch. NOPE! Don't suggest doing that.  Now the setup is requiring a remote. Downloading the Google TV app doesn't find the device.  The Google Home app on my Android or my iPad doesn't find the device. Interesting side note-it did find my neighbors (not condo or apartment) and I have since told him how to change his settings.  ANYWAY, I have tried different HDMI outlets on the TV, different power outlets and even different cables and power adapters in a painstakingly one by one manner.  My guess is that the device is not on my home WiFi and that the default settings are not set to allow anyone to find it and therefore can't be found during my setup.  For grins I will purchase another Chromecast HD with remote then try just the remote to see it that will allow the original Chromecast device to be setup.  If not, then I will try the new device with the remote that came with it.  BUT, I might just return it afterwards because honestly - I have a Roku that does work. This has solely become a battle of wits with the darn thing.  Any other suggestions or resolutions out there?

I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that Chromecast device set back up? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as it sounds like this has been a headache for you. I'm sorry to say that to set up the Chromecast with Google TV, it does require the Chromecast Voice Remote.
