Chromecast Remote volume mute and input change not working

Just recently my Chromecast remote stopped controlling the volume on my LG C2 tv. 

I can set them up and they work fine for a short period of time but then they just stop working? 

 

Very strange. Also after they stop working if you press the volume mute or input selector not only does it not work but it also freezes the rest of the remote for a few seconds from working

Update: programmed it to control volume on Bose sound bar also. Exactly same issue. Works for 5 mins then stops working. All other functions work fine

Hello Jamie_G,

 

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. Please plug in the Chromecast with Google TV device on a different HDMI port on your TV. Also, remove and re-add your TV under the Remote and Accessories section in the Google TV settings then, follow the steps here to set up your Voice Remote buttons.

Hi Jennifer. No. The remote will only control the device (I have tried both, my Bose sound bar and LG C2 tv) briefly before it stops working.

Hi Jamie_G,

 

Thanks for getting back to us. Could you please replace the batteries on your Chromecast Voice Remote and check if the same issue will persist? Factory resetting your Chromecast with Google TV and Chromecast Voice Remote might also help.
