Chromecast Setup

When using Google Home to set up chromecast, it gets stuck at Location Access. All my location settings are on but Google Home keeps saying to enable access

Hi Nizzle,

 

Thanks for reaching out. Let's sort this out.

 

Quick questions — what mobile phone are you using to set up your Chromecast? What Chromecast device do you have? Please uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app and reboot your phone. Using a different mobile device might also help.

I figured that the app needed to prompt me first to enable location access and turn on notifications,  but for some reason there was no prompt for location access only that of notifications came through, because of this the app was stuck on “enable location access” (I think there was some of software glitch). Anyway I deleted and reinstalled probably twice before it worked

I'm having the same issue.  I can get to "Location Access" screen, but cannot proceed further.

Privacy > Location Service (on)
There is no "Google Home" listed under Location Services to enable or disable.

No problem! Let me just ask you a couple of questions, so we know how to proceed from here (assuming you already tried the steps that Jennifer and Nizzle tried):

  • What type of phone are you using?
  • What model of Chromecast do you have?
  • Are the location issues happening while trying to set up the Chromecast, or have you already set up the Chromecast?

The steps change a bit depending on your device, as well as if you have already set up the Chromecast or not. I look forward to your response!
