Chromecast Ultra has power, BUT is dead

Wesley1969

A few days ago, Chromecast Ultra worked normally.  Today it does not, no screen - blank black display, with no device error on tv.  It is Dead.

I tried to factory reset, changed network cabling, plugged network power into different wall sockets, changed HDMI ports, changed network ports. ALSO, I unplugged power to Chromecast Ultra and tested power in another device - the other device worked properly.  Chromecast Ultra has no LED and is simply DEAD after five years.

Hi Wesley1969,

Thanks for reaching out to the Chromecast Community forum and for doing some steps beforehand — these are of great help! To cover all the bases, could you please try to plug in the Chromecast into a different TV screen, if possible and check if the same issue persists?

Thanks,

Jennifer

Thanks for feedback, while other devices connect to ports on various TV or monitors, Chromecast Ultra remains unchanged.

Has there been firmware updates recently?

Hey there,

While there's a recent update to the Google Home app, there's nothing with the Chromecast devices. You can check this support website article to see the current firmware version of the device.

Let me know if you have other questions and concerns otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Best,

Jennifer
