My 8 mos old Chromecast used to work flawlessly. Now I have to connect almost each time I use it. Other Apps on the TV will be connected and working fine. Sometimes I will get a message that says no connection, go to settings in Chromecast and find it says connected. It seems the problem is only in Chromecast. Is there a wireless chip inside that can be going bad?

They released a bad update that is causing this issue:

My Chromecast continues to disconnect from wi-fi. It is not my wi-fi, no other devices are affected. In fact I switched its internet to my dedicated work internet router with the same disconnection issues. I've spent way too much time in attempts to solve it. I believe it is the Chromecast failure. It has become a disappointment.

Hey there Stoverwoods,
I'm really sorry that the Chromecast has been such a pain to you, I know I've had my fair share of connection issues as well. If you have a 3rd Generation Chromecast, the forum post that TheHegemon linked to you may be relevant. Essentially, try factory resetting the Chromecast, then either connect it to a 2.4GHz network, or change the 5GHz channel range to a lower range, such as 36-48, then connect it there.
Let me know if that fixes the issue, if not, we can try a few more things.
Best regards,
Jeran
