Chromecast button not available on Chrome browser

Just recently my cast button is not available on Chrome Browser, it ws there a week ago. Findings:

I am on the lastest version of Chrome

I am on the same wifi on laptop as chrome device

Others acan see and cast to my screen in my office

I have tried both "Rest setting" option & reboot and uninstalled Chrome, reboot and reinstall

 

None of there have resovled the isssue.  Thank you all in advance.

Oddly enough, the cast option was moved to under Save and Share" option. I then created and icon for it.

I have the same problem but after finding the cast option my computer still says "cannot find any devices" which is quite remarkable. Can it be that I use chromecast of the first generation? It works fine with my phone but not with my laptop. I use the latest version of Chrome browser and windows 10.

Hi Leffeboy,

 

Thanks for posting here. Based on your description, casting from a different source (your smartphone) is working. It means your Chromecast 1st Gen is still working. Although it’s possible that it may not be compatible anymore because Chromecast 1st Gen no longer receives updates, we still need to check for possible network issues. Ensure that your computer is connected to the same network as your Chromecast device, which is on 2.4 GHz, before you try to cast. Let us know how it goes.

When I press my chromecast button, under save and share, I click on cast and it says can't find any devices...beyond frustrated

Thanks for posting here. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. If the TV is in standby or ambient mode, then you need to ensure that your computer is on the same network or bandwidth as the Chromecast device. Kindly try the troubleshooting steps that we shared here in this thread. You can also isolate it if it has something to do with the computer by using another device (smartphones, tablets, another laptop, etc.). Let us know how it goes.

I am not quite sure what you mean. My telephone and my laptop is connected to the same router of that I am sure. But what do you mean with 2,4 GHz and how can I check that. The router is a Huawei EG81.......

Hello Leffeboy,

 

Thanks for the reply. I’ve checked your Huawei EG81 router and found this EchoLife EG8145V5 directly on the manufacturer's website. The description shows that it supports 802.11ac dual-frequency bands, which means it has both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The Chromecast 1st Gen can only detect and connect to 2.4 GHz (the first and oldest Wi-Fi band) since it was made prior to the release of the 5 GHz band. Your smartphone and laptop can connect and even switch back and forth between the two bands. If you need help identifying which one is which, you can contact Huawei for further help. Usually, other users just restart their devices (smartphone or laptop) and move about 15 feet away from the router to keep out of the 5 GHz range and be forced to auto-connect to the 2.4 GHz band. You can try that and let us know how it goes.
