Hi EduardD,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. This is the Chromecast 1st Gen (Model H2G2-42). Are you casting from your phone’s Chrome browser? If this website has a cast-enabled app version, I suggest you use it instead, especially if you’re using a smartphone when casting. If you're casting it from a computer’s Chrome browser, use the cast option from Chrome’s menu (the 3 dots at the top right corner below the X button). Please be aware that Chromecast 1st Gen may not receive updates anymore. That can also be a factor in why some pages or apps fail to load. Let us know if you still have questions.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing. Based on the video, you seem to use the innate cast function of the website. To break this down, this seems to be the situation.

  1. You’re not using a computer; you’re using a tablet, which uses apps.
  2. These are specific websites with innate casting functions.
  3. It doesn’t seem to have a cast-enabled app version.
  4. You’re required to use a (Chrome) browser to view the contents of these sites.
  5. But the Chrome browser for smartphones or tablets is not a cast-enabled app.

Some websites may have their own casting capabilities, but they may not be optimized for Chromecast (it’s probably for Miracast, etc.). And since this is a Chrome browser app (usually less than 500 MB in size), you may not cast it like you would using a Chrome browser on a computer (usually more than 1GB in size). The correct way to cast from the Chrome browser is to click the three dotsMore menu icon located at the top right corner of the browser, then choose Cast from the option. Again, this is only applicable in the Chrome browser for Windows, Mac, and ChromeOS computers, and not in the app version for smartphones and tablets.

Try to cast those websites using the Chrome browser on your laptop. You can also try the Tubio app on your tablet. It is a cast-enabled app that has a browser function. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hello,

Tubio app deasn't work on mobile phone but it does work on tablet!

BUT,occasionally stops for one second to load something. probably worked that 500 MB.

What do you think?

Hi there,

The Tubio App is not a Google product. But a lot of users prefer this or similar apps for casting videos from pages and websites that have no cast-enabled app version. Videos like college football, church events, celebrations, etc. This is also applicable to certain websites with media content. You can always search for other apps with similar functions. I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Kimy
