Chromecast cannot connect to new WiFi

Hello,

We recently changed the internet provider and installed a new WiFi router with a new password. Now Chromecast cannot connect anymore to this new WiFi. I tried all the suggested solutions - resetting the Chromecast device (factory reset), turning off and on the router or the Chromecast device, nothing works. Could you please help?

I'm In the same boat.. just moved house and chrome cast just wont connect to WiFi. Hopefully some can help us out.

Hey there Vaboliru,

I'd be happy to help you get this Wi-Fi issue resolved, as I know it can be a headache when having to get everything set back up. Now, if you haven't already, I would check out this article on being unable to establish a Wi-Fi connection to the router. If for some reason the factory reset didn't work, you can try manually forgetting the old network as well:

 

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your Chromecast.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. Tap Device information and then Wi-Fi and then Forget this network.
  5. You’ll be taken back to your Home screen.
  6. Follow the steps to set up your Chromecast with Google TVChromecast (3rd gen or older) or Chromecast Audio on a new network.
