Chromecast does not turn on with intial power

When I intially press the power button on the Chromecast remote, the TV turns on, but not the Chromecast. I have to hit the power button again to turn off the TV, then I can hit a third time for both the Chromecast and the TV to turn on. Any suggestions to avoid these steps?

Quick questions: when did the issue start? What's the make and model of your TV? Please reboot your Chromecast with Google TV and TV. Also, try to remove and re-add your TV, then set up your Chromecast Voice Remote button. Here's a guide: Set up volume, power and input control on your Chromecast Voice Remote.
