Chromecast found. Needs to be activated before setup

I've had this Chromecast connected previously.

I factory reset the Chromecast my pixel 6 is connected to my normal wifi . This Chromecast was previously connected to a Verizon jet pack and now I have a new one same model but different jetpack. I open the home app choose one of my locations and even created a new one. The home app keeps telling me Chromecast found. Needs to be activated before setup. I can see the Chromecast in my wifi options. I tried to Bluetooth pairing it  and it won't. Do I erase all my wifi network connections in the home app ? If I do will that throw off my 3 other Chromecast that connect perfectly??

Hey Jester3939,

Thanks for posting. If you received a message that the device needs to be activated before setup, please download the Device Utility app. Have you already downloaded that app? If you haven't yet, please go to the Google Play Store and install it on your phone. If you already have this app, please try the steps below:

  1. Open the Device Utility app.
  2. Allow Location access.
  3. Turn on Bluetooth.
  4. Disconnect from the Wi-Fi network.
  5. The app starts to look for devices.
  6. Activate the device.
  7. Finish the activation.

If it still fails to set up your device, please use a different mobile phone such as a non Pixel or a non Android device if one is available.

Thanks,

Jennifer
