YouTube casting issue from Android app

Every time I cast from my YouTube app from my Android phone, the connection lasts for about five minutes give or take, or even if I exit the app, it does this. This does not seem to be an issue on IOS and has been an issue for many months. Just bought a Nest Hub 2nd Gen, and casting from YouTube has the same issue; others have this same issue as noted on the reviews of the YouTube app on the Play Store.

A few questions: what type of Chromecast device do you have? Is this isolated when using the YouTube app or across all apps? What is the make and model of your mobile phone? 

 

Try these steps:

 

  1. Clear the cache and data of the YouTube app.
  2. Reinstall the YouTube app.
  3. Check if your mobile device has a power saving setting. If it's enabled, disable it.
  4. Reboot your mobile device.
  5. Reboot your Chromecast and Nest Hub.

Thanks, this worked for me.

Turned out I had some restrictive background use for the YouTube app that was turned on to save battery.
