Chromecast from PC, Casting SCREEN and audio control

I have an issue where I used to be able to cast my desktop/screen to a tv and once that tv had my screen my PC would mute but the TV would play the sound.

Seems like something has been updated since now the "screen" cast option no longer has that lil audio control option under the cast. When I cast it automatically mutes my PC so I dont hear anything anywhere, maybe they assume I only want video?

I want to be able to get my audio on the TV and not on my pc if I choose.
I know you can instead use the "cast tab" option but it is much much worse for most applications I want to use it for. The previous ability to cast my desktop screen and all audio was very flexible. I could change tabs, bring in other apps into that window to see and hear them, doing it per tab is much much slower, has to connect/disconnect and sometimes wont even work for things like shorts.

Please restore the previous control we used to have with the screen/desktop cast.

Hi @Sniffenj,

You're right, it seems like there's been a change in the casting functionality that affects how audio is handled when casting your entire desktop screen. Here are a few things you can try to get audio on your TV while casting your desktop:

1. Check for Chrome Updates:

  • Make sure you're using the latest version of Google Chrome. Bug fixes in newer versions might address the missing audio control option. Update Chrome by going to the three dots menu in the top right corner, then clicking "Settings" -> "About Chrome" and checking for updates.

If for some reason you still have the same issue before this trouble shooting step you can fill out this form for further assistance.

Regards,

Mario.

checked the version, using the most updated chome.

I think the controls might be different if the computer has multiple monitors. My laptop only has one but my PC has 2+, so that selection box for which screen to share is where the audio control is, might be a silly thing but that could be it.
