Chromecast intermittently dropping wifi

Hi there, any help appreciated - I'm at the end of my sanity with this one!

I've got a Chromecast which keeps intermittently dropping my home wifi signal. It will work one day but then spends the next few days refusing to hold the connection. It can see the wifi but can't connect, then the wifi disappears for a few seconds and reappears.

I've tried resetting the Chromecast - changes nothing.

I've tried resetting my home wifi (I'm on Xfinity in the USA at the moment) - changes nothing.

The Chromecast connected to the hotspot on my phone without a problem, and to the local ambient wifi (free but too slow to stream from). My home internet connects to all my other devices without a problem.

I've just tried factory resetting my Chromecast as a last resort and now it won't connect to anything so I'm completely stuck.

Help!

Hi cait604,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. Based on your description, it seems that it’s still working since it connects to a different network (a mobile hotspot and another local Wi-Fi). This can be a network issue that could be related to router settings (which may have changed after an over-the-air update) or outside influence (interference, distance, etc.). Some users usually fix this by factory resetting their router, but we don’t suggest it, especially if the user doesn't know how. For this, you may actually contact your router manufacturer or your ISP if they provided you with your router.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Kimy
