Connecting Chromecast TV to Chromecast Audio

Please, is it possible to connect a Chromecast with Google TV to a Chromecast Audio, so that the sound from Netflix, for example, is played through the speakers connected to the Chromecast Audio?

Hi sljunior,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. The Google Nest speakers and/or displays don't support being a slave speaker or soundbar for Chromecast with Google TV. These smart speakers are home automation devices first, and speakers function second. You may witness it working for a moment as a Bluetooth speaker, but as soon as it activates its smart functions (calendar check, routines, recognizing voice queues, etc.), it loses its connection to the Chromecast device. The same is true with Chromecast Audio, not because of smart functions since it’s not a smart device, but because of its one-way communication, which is via casting. It only receives cast commands from casting sources (smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc.), and the Chromecast with Google TV has no capability to cast because it’s also a recipient of casting commands as well.

It’s best to pair a true Bluetooth speaker, which will function as a slave audio output. There’s nothing wrong with your devices; it is by design.

I hope this sheds some light on the situation. Let us know if you have other questions.

Thanks,

Kimy

Thanks Kimy for your reply.

I hope that Chromecast TV will implement casting for smart speakers in the future.
