Chromecast not found on Google home

I have just had installed new bt internet so had to change the wifi on all my devices. Google home and Google nest mini are working since changing the wifi, but my Google home app won’t find my Chromecast. It is plugged in, I have also factory reset it via the button on the stick and reset my wifi. My TV screen shows “welcome to get started download the Google home app” and gives me a name: chromecast6443

I cannot get any further than this. My Google home app just asks me what I’m setting up- I choose Chromecast and it cannot find anything.

Hey folks,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Since this thread hasn't had activity in a while, we're going to close it to keep content fresh. If there's any recent changes to the router settings like in your case you changed your internet, you may try the steps listed below:

  • Check the Wi-Fi settings of the phone and connect directly to the Chromecast's temporary hotspot, Chromecast XXXX, or manually look for the previous name that has been used for the Chromecast device like Living Room TV or Bedroom TV, and then proceed with the normal setup.
  • Reboot the Chromecast.
  • Reboot the WiFi router.
  • Factory reset the Chromecast device. Here's a guide: How to factory reset your Chromecast.

If the issue persists, feel free to submit another post and provide as many details as possible so that others can lend a hand. Hope this helps!

Best,

Alex
