Changed router and trying to get chromecast back up and running on home wifi. Google home cant find chromecast. I’ve unplugged then did a factory reset. Google home still can’t find chromecast 3rd generation. Now what to do?

It took about 15 minutes for mine to show up. That was *JUST THE START* of hours of aggravation that still continues.

Hi folks,
That certainly hasn't been easy for you ― let’s check this out.
What kind of Chromecasts do you have and what are the status of the LED lights on the device? What is the exact message on the tv screen? Since the router has been changed, that means the old WiFi is not available anymore. Doing the factory reset is a must. After the reset, reboot your router, Chromecast, then TV. restarting your phone might also help. Before the setup make sure mobile/cellular data is turned off and bluetooth is on. If you're an iOS user, go to its settings>privacy>local network access>disable then enable it.
Keep me posted.
Best,
Dan

It was a brand new, just out of the box 4K Google TV model. It took a looooooonnnnnngggg time before it showed up in Home. Since at that point it's not connected to the home's network, and never was, "old WiFi" is not the problem.

Hey Duarte,
Have you tried the steps above to refresh your device? Is it working right now? If not then what is the status of the LED light on your Chromecast?

Dan
