Chromecast not recognizing home app

I followed instructions - plugged in unit, my tv screen says "get the app". I've got the app open, have wifi and Bluetooth on, it says I don't have any rooms and to connect my devices.

  2. Follow the steps.
    1. If you don’t find the steps to set up your Chromecast:
      1. At the top left of the Google Home app home screen, tap Add Ashepherdson_1-1634850478221.png

         Set up device Ashepherdson_3-1634850478234.png

         

         New device.
