I’ve got my brand new chromecast (CC) in mid july and I’ve used it for around 3 months now, worked magic. Until last week my CC remote suddenly stopped working, and I noticed some water droplets coming from the inside of the remote. I immediately took out the batteries that the remote came with, wiped down the inside of the remote clean & dry, and replaced with new batteries. The first set of new batteries I replaced didnt work on the remote and it showed on the CC setting that the remote is low battery, but it worked for my other sharp remote (I did so to make sure it wasnt the problem of my new batteries). The next day I tried with a second set of new batteries, and could get the remote work for a few hours…
During the time when my remote broke, the sound of CC also broke. It’s not the problem of my tv as I was able to use ps4 sound with the same tv same setting. I also made sure that I turned both my CC and tv volume up. I tried rebooting, restarting, reconnecting power source etc and at last I factory restarted my chromecast once I could get my CC remote back to work, as mentioned in the first paragraph.
After factory restarting chromecast, sound came back initially. A day later I realized the CC remote stopped working again…. I have my google home app set up on my iphone and was able to navigate around CC, I was hoping that even tho my remote is out, I can still use CC with my phone. HOWEVER, I realize the sound is gone again. Not sure if it’s connected or it’s just a coincidence that when the remote broke, CC volume also follows. I then tried unpairing the remote to the CC, no luck as well.
Worth noting that when I was trying to get the sound working I casted a YouTube video in the background, for a split second the sound of that video came through. This made me realized it’s probably some sort of connection issue/ bug, and not that something was physically incorrectly plugged.
Just hoping I can get some help for this, I’ve only used my CC for less than 3 months and like I said it had been working magic. Sad now that it suddenly stopped working. Thank you everyone for your time!
