Chromecast saying LG is no longer available

For years, I have been using my 3rd Generation Chromecast with LG ThinQ to control my LG TV by voice through my Mini.  Starting a few days ago, when I ask Google to "Get LG," it says, "Sorry, LG is no longer available."

I have never received this particular response before.  The connection seems fine.  Is this function no longer supported???

As a person with a disability who cannot use a remote, this is vitally important to my independence.  Please help!

Hi @jy12

I would say that the experience you are having with the Get LG is related to Google no longer supporting third party actions. Conversational Actions are going away - Google Assistant Help

Hi @JillG

Oh noooo!!  Is there an alternative way to use Assistant to control my TV by voice??  As mentioned, this is hugely important to me!

You could reach out to LG to see if they have any apps that work via voice with that TV.

The Chromecast with Google TV  has a voice remote as does an Amazon Fire stick but not sure if those remotes would fit your accessibility needs.  You still need to navigate a bit with the remote a bit even after using the voice request.

I would reach out to LG. Possibly they have an app in the works to replace this action that has ended. Possibly a feature in some TVs for their OEM voice control.

Yeah, I got Chromecast with Google TV when it first came out, but it required use of the remote so I had to go back to my Gen 3.  Now even this isn't working!  I am sad to hear that even Amazon Fire Stick wouldn't work.  It seems accessibility is getting worse every day and it's extremely demoralizing.  I will check with LG...
