You can't setup Chromecast with Google TV without the remote it came with, I'm afraid. Replacement remotes are available on the Google Store.

I thought the OP was asking how he could set up a Chromecast without his TV's remote not the Chromecast remote. If he posts the make of his TV perhaps he can be pointed in the direction of a remote for it.

Hi there,

Thanks for the input, @Arandora1.

@Daniel05, I just wanted to add that we can set up your Chromecast with Google TV even without your TV remote. You just need to make sure that the TV is set in the correct input settings where the Chromecast with Google TV device is plugged in. You can follow the steps on how to Set up Chromecast with Google TV and Voice Remote.

Note that when setting up the Chromecast with Google TV device, that’s when you need the Chromecast Voice remote that came with the dongle.

Kind regards,
Alex

Hello there,

@Arandora1, as long as the TV powers on and displays the screen with the Chromecast device’s setup instructions, it should be fine.

@Daniel05, we haven’t heard back from you, so I'll be locking this thread in 24 hours. Feel free to create a new one if you have other concerns in the future.

Best,

Kimy
