My Chromecast turns off by itself after 15 minutes. I have a newer LG OLED tv. My tv says there is no signal when it turns off. If I turn Chromecast back in right away it continues off where I was. Any help is appreciated.

I do not have the answer but similar problem. It seems that Chromecast does not release HDMI port when I switch it off on it's remote and TV then says "no signal". I have to physically disconnect Chromecast to get my TV working again

Hey there Jeffbmacdonald,
I'm sorry to hear that your Chromecast is having some power issues! I can imagine this is pretty annoying, so I'd be happy to help you out. Just to double-check, is your Chromecast powered by a wall outlet, or by a USB on the TV? Also, when this issue occurs, what color is the LED light on the Chromecast? If the Chromecast is throwing you an error, it shows up via the LED light.
I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!
Best regards,
Jeran

Hey there rmervart,
No problem at all! That's an interesting occurrence. The white LED light means it's not any kind of power issues with the Chromecast. Would you try connecting the Chromecast to a different HDMI port to see if the problem still occurs? If so, if you are able to, would you be able to try the Chromecast on another TV as well?
I look forward to hearing from you!
Thank you,
Jeran

Hello Jeran,
I tried both things, connecting to a different HDMI port on the same TV and to the HDMI port on another TV with the same result. Chromecast switches itself OFF but Tv input stays on the HDMI port and on the screen you get No signal message. I have to then use Tv settings on the remote to change input to Tv to get signal back. ☹️

Hey there rmervart,
No problem, does your particular TV have any HDMI-CEC or Power Saving settings that may be affecting the Chromecast? I know my Vizio TV had some power saving options that would cause my Chromecast to act up.
Best regards,
Jeran

Hello Jeran,
Yes, it does have HDMI-CEC but it works "half way". I can switch from TV to Chromecast by pressing O button on the Chromecast control but when I try to turn Chromecast Off and switch back to TV by holding O button on the remote for he Chromecast it turns off Chromecast but does not return source back to TV. I get No signal displayed and, as i explained, I have to use TV remote to manually reselect TV as the source. The thing is it worked fine for 1.5 years but suddenly developed this problem and as I have 2 year warranty I am keen to to see if it is some settings problem or a fault. Thank for helping

Hi Jeran,
The only problem is that my warranty is running out soon and if I could not solve the problem in thefew days I will have to take it back to the retailer as faulty 🤔
