Chromecast with GTV doesn't advance to next segment

I have Chromecast with Google TV in my livingroom.  When I'm watching a show like FBI within Paramount + when a commercial finishes, one would expect the program to continue into the next segment.  It doesn't.  It replays the previous segment. I then need to fast-forward to the next segment.  This happens within Paramount+, YouTube, Hulu and most of the other applications.  Is there anyway that this issue can be corrected?

Hello @Harkawy,

That sounds frustrating! There are a few things you can try to fix the issue of Chromecast with Google TV replaying the previous segment instead of continuing to the next one within Paramount+, YouTube, Hulu, and other apps.

Here are some troubleshooting steps:

1. Restart Chromecast:

  • A simple restart can often fix glitches. Unplug your Chromecast from the power source for a minute, then plug it back in. Wait for it to fully boot up, then try playing some content again.

2. Update Chromecast:

  • Outdated software might be causing the problem. Check for any available updates for Chromecast:
    1. Go to your Google TV settings.
    2. Select "System" and then "About."
    3. Look for "System update." If an update is available, install it.

3. Update Apps:

  • Make sure the apps you're using on Google TV are updated to the latest versions. Outdated app versions can sometimes cause playback issues. You can usually update apps through the Google Play Store app on your Chromecast.

4. Reinstall Apps:

  • In some cases, reinstalling the app might fix the problem. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the problematic apps (Paramount+, YouTube, Hulu, etc.) on your Chromecast.

5. Check App Settings:

  • Some apps might have settings related to playback behavior. Check the app settings for any options related to automatic rewind or replay. See if there's a way to disable those features.

6. Check Internet Connection:

  • A slow or unstable internet connection can sometimes cause playback issues. Make sure your Chromecast has a strong and stable internet connection. You can try a speed test app or website to check your internet speed.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.  I have done all of your suggestions multiple times.  To no avail.
I thought that the problem might be caused by skipping the preview.  Same issue.  Then I  thought it might be skipping the intro.  Same issue.
Then three weeks after I posted my issue in the Google Nest Community Mailer, the issue went away.  Hopefully, it's gone forever but nothing is forever (except death and taxes)

Hello @Harkawy,

I am glad to hear that it is working fine now, and I also hope that it won't happen again.
