Hello
Just upgraded to the chromecast google tv 4k from the 3rd gen. I have a 4 year old 4k Toshiba TV (Model no. 43U6863DB). The picture quality from the initial set-up process has been off.
For context I've used a 4k xbox, nintendo switch, previous chromecast 3rd gen, my macbook pro retina with no issues. The picture quality with the chromecast is the same on all the ports. I factory reset the chromecast, set it up again, tried every single display setting on the TV and on the chromecast but nothing changes.
Tested it on my monitor and another TV in my flat, both of which are 1080p and older. I guess the issue is with my TV but I'm not really sure why/how it could be considering everything else I plug into it is fine.
Any ideas? I assume the issue isn't with the chromecast but wondering if anyone has any ideas what could be going on?

Try to change the HDR settings under Settings-App->Display & Sound ->Text Scaling-Dynamic range and Color format.
Display settings for Chromecast with Google TV - Chromecast Help
Maybe this helps.

Hi folks,
I appreciate your help, MagicAndre1981.
whack3r24, we hope that helps but, if you're still having trouble, try to plug in your Chromecast with Google TV (4K) into a different HDMI port on your TV and make sure the connector is plugged all the way in.
Best,
Jennifer

Hello whack3r24
How's it going? Did you manage to get your device working?

Hello. I managed to get it working. I have no idea how though. I bought the HD version and another 4k version to further test and .they both worked with no issues. So when I went back and tried the initial 4k Google TV and it then worked. I didn't change any settings on anything so can't explain why it now works but thanks for your responses.
