Remote not able to power Sony receiver on and off anymore.  Used to work great until yesterday.  Went through resetting the remote and still won't do power, does volume however.

based on what you say

1. reset all the devices

2. knock knock a bit the device ( sometimes works )  be soft...
3. you say does volume, but not the other thing, then, dissarm it and clean it, how many years it has? for temperature climate issues it can happen something inside, whatever

i hope you solve the problem, usually in my experience if a tv controller fails, i have to clean it inside and done.

Hi rdweiler,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear that you are having an issue with your Chromecast Voice Remote. Let's check on this further.

Quick question —  what is the LED light status in your Voice Remote? Please try the steps listed below:

  • Replace all batteries at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not use lithium-ion or any other batteries with rated voltage above 1.5 V.

  • Try to remove your Sony Receiver and re-add it to your Voice Remote.
  • If a reset on the remote doesn't work, please do a factory reset on your Chromecast.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for the help, GreyMan.

Regards,

Jennifer

Replaced batteries, factory reset it. Did all troubleshooting I read online. No change. Device works fine using factory remote so determined it was the Google remote. I have already ordered a replacement remote because no one replied to me from Google. I'm not very happy.

Nope. I purchased a new remote because Google never answered my request for warranty replacement.  Not happy at all with Google right now.
