Looking at buying either Chromecast or Chromecast with Google TV to cast from an Android phone (Motorola Edge not Motorola Edge+) to HDTV (not a smart TV) with HDMI and USB ports (and access to a USB charging port) in a caravan and will not have access to wifi most of the time.
Am I able to setup a Chromecast with Google TV without wifi? or do I have to buy a Chromecast and use the guest access option.
Thanks

Hi @dom_au CC and CCwGTV both require setup using a secure WiFi network and your phone and the CC device in either scenario must be connected to the same WiFi in order to cast.

And, to be clear, all Chromecast devices require a network with access to the internet whenever they are running. You can't use them without it. They will stop working and tell you that they need you to restore the internet.
You will not be able to use them when you don't have WiFi and/or the internet.

Thanks - if it always needs Internet then a Chromecast or a Chromecast with Google TV is not the solution when I am in areas without Internet access (should have I wouldn't have Internet access a lot of the time rather than Wifi).
@GothamNY I thought the guest option for the Chromecast (not available in Chromecast with Google TV) would work without a network being present or does it require a network even though the Guest doesn't have access to it. cheers
