Hey there belinda_august,
I apologize for the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to get your Chromecast set up? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as these connection issues can be tricky to troubleshoot on your own. First, I would follow the steps listed in this article. Afterwards, if the problem persists, go ahead and follow the steps in this article.
I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!
Best regards,
Jeran

Hey there Belinda August,
It's a possibility that the Chromecast may not work with some older TVs; check out this guide to see what the Chromecast requires from the TV. In short, all Chromecast devices require a TV with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) 1.3 or higher built-in. HDCP 2.2 is required to support 4K content. Most televisions that are 5 years old or newer and have HDMI ports will have at least one port that supports HDCP 2.2. If you're not sure if your TV meets the requirements, let me know what model you have, and I'll look into it.
Best regards,
Jeran

TV is a Soniq S55V16A-AU. Does that help figure out what's wrong?

Hey there belinda_august,
In this case, I would go into the TV's settings and check for any updates to the TV's firmware. Afterwards, try each of the HDMI ports on the TV to see if any of them work with the Chromecast. Finally, if the problem persists, go ahead and factory reset the TV and try again.
On a side note, don't power the Chromecast via a USB cable connected to the TV. Power the Chromecast using a wall outlet, and only have the HDMI plugged into the TV.
Best regards,
Jeran
