Do Not Disturb on Chromecast

Hello,

I'm having a very annoying situation!

To begin, I need to say that I have several speakers and displays distributed through the house and in the living room a Nest Audio and a Android TV 4K with Chromecast built-in.

So, when someone rings the doorbell, all the devices states there's someone there but in different times, which makes a huge mess because it is like a bunch of people almost at the same time. But the real bad thing is that Chromecast don't have a "Do Not Disturb" function as the other devices in a way to disable these announcements.

This is very frustrating because even though the doorbell identifies who's at the door, it is complicated to understand what's being said, which tear down the whole feature.

Turning On the DO NOT DISTURB in Nest Audio also doesn't solve the issue because it is not always that we have the TV On... So, two good solutions would be:

  1. Include "Do Not Disturb" function to Chromecast devices.
  2. Allow automation where the "Do Not Disturb" function is already available. I could for example enable the "Do Not Disturb" in Nest Audio every time the TV turns on and also disable it when TV is OFF.

Let me know if Google intends to do something of have a solution for me.

Hey there Buz87,

Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! I think having a "Do Not Disturb" feature available to specific Google Nest devices is a great idea. If you have the time, would you be able to submit feedback via the Google Home app to let Google know? Google takes all feedback seriously, and the more feedback they receive regarding a specific feature, the more likely they are to prioritize it.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know! Otherwise, I'll go ahead and lock the thread in 24 hours.

Best regards,
Jeran
