Google TV Chromecast glitches

I have a new Chromecast Google TV. I have having a couple of problems...

1. Often when I turn my TV on (it remembers the last input), there is a black screen when my Chromecast is selected, like it's gone into standby.  In the settings under energy saver, I have selected "never" turn off display. Some posts have said you can set when it goes into ambient mode or how long that displays, but there's no such options in the ambient mode settings.

2. Sometimes when I turn the TV on and the Chromecast is actually active, I press the directional control on the remote to scroll through the suggestions on the home screen, but it doesn't work. Only when I press another button does the rest of the remote come back to life. This is very frustrating.

Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! I'm sorry to hear that your new Chromecast is causing frustration. I'd be happy to help you out, since I know it took me a minute to get everything working the way I like it. I would recommend turning on Stay Awake in the Developer Mode settings. To enable Developer Mode, go into your Google TV Settings, then About, then hover Android TV OS Build, then select it 7 times. This will unlock the Developer Mode settings, so you can enable Stay Awake.
