My chromecast has a green dot in the top right of the screen at all times, even when movies are playing. I know this is because of the microphone being active & useable by apps, but this is an integral part of the device & its voice assistant, why must I turn off microphone just to watch a movie without a green dot? How is the dot helpful? Why would they put such a thing on screen at all times? This is an insanely badly implemented system. From what I can tell from searching you can turn it off on mobile using dev mode, but this is not a phone its a device made solely for watching tv & movies. If anyone knows how to remove the green dot I would very much appreciate it.

So it just randomly stopped showing, thats the kind of quality device I paid the big bucks for.
If you have this problem, I'm sorry you brought a Chromecast & I hope it randomly stops the same way it started like it did for me. Maybe try pressing the voice button a few times or throwing the whole thing out of a window & buying a firestick or Shield?

It sounds like the voice button on your remote got stuck and the green light was trying to tell you that. It's a warning to let you know that Google is listening.

It was not the button on the remote, its brand new & clean & works fine, this was a software error in the chromecast itself. It wasn't listening to me as that would have caused it to have the mic icon & for it to return results when I talked & it was not doing that, it was just showing a green dot for no reason. The error was present even if the device was powered off and on again.
I permanently fixed it by buying an Nvidia Shield instead.

I reset the chrome cast and it went away.
