I have a new U8G Hisense tv after having used the add-on Chromecast for years (including the new android tv one) and historically I've used my Google photos as the screen saver/backdrop. For some reason there is no option to do so on this tv, even when going to the Chromecast. com/built-in there doesn't seem to be a way to do so. Any ideas on how to get it to function more like the Chromecast?

Hey there,
I apologize about the late response, thank you for your patience! Were you able to fix that Ambient Mode issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out! If you check out this article on Ambient Mode for Chromecast, it will show you how to set up that Chromecast built-in to use Google Photos. Give those steps a try, then let me know if you run into any issues.
I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!
Best regards,
Jeran

I have the same problem on my new TCL TV which is supposed to have Chromecast built into it. Using the plug in Chromecast gen1 dongle works fine and I can see my photos from Google photos in ambient mode. This seems to be an option in the new Google TV, but ambient mode will not find the images in my Google photos album. I had seen the Google may have suspended this option in Google TVs due to a security issue. Is this true? If so is Google working on it? If not what is the problem?

Heya Rohnsman,
The Chromecast built-ins and the Google TVs both support using Google Photos in Ambient Mode. Have you already added your TV onto your "Home" within the Google Home app? This is to make sure your Ambient mode settings would show, including the option to use Google Photos.
