How to activate chromecast on Samsung tv

Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! Just to confirm, are you using a Chromecast Dongle, or a TV with Chromecast built-in? If you are trying to set up a Chromecast dongle, check out this article. However, if you are using a TV with Chromecast built-in, go ahead and read this article

We just returned yesterday. I'll try your suggestions tonight and let you know if they succeed. Thank you for following up. 

I'm stuck.

I did the factory reset button, plugged in the dongle. TV says to open Google Home App.

I open the app on my cell, and Home says "Chromecast found. It needs to be activated before setup. This device has a few extra steps before you can start setup. Go to the Help Center to learn more."

So I went to the Help Center, chose country US, and was told to use the setup flow on the TV to activate.

What now?

The Dongle is model NC2-6A5.  The TV is a Samsung model QN55Q8DTAFXZA. The cell phone is a Pixel 4A with Android version 12.

Hi Raynelmes,

 

I'm sorry for the late response. Please try to reboot your phone and try again. Using a different mobile phone such as a non Pixel or non Android device to setup your Chromecast if one is available might also help.

I restarted my Pixel, rebooted the chromecast Dongle, and had the same results. I don't have another phone to try this with. I hope you are not going to tell me that I can't use a Google phone to activate a Google product!
