LAN YES / WAN NO

My White Chromecast 4K (plugged into an HDMI port on my Roku TV) connects to my WiFi LAN good and reports a strong signal, but reports there is no internet access here. My router sees the connected device and reports a strong connection.  When I reboot the Chromecast and it initially connects to the WiFi LAN, it shows 'Internet Connected' for a few brief seconds, then switches to the message "No Internet".  Bard advised me to reset the device by unplugging the power then holding down the reset button for 25 seconds and waiting for a series of lights - but this did not work... holding down the reset button for any amount of time never results in any reaction from the led... which stays dark the entire time there is no power to the unit and I'm holding the reset button down.  Google Home (from my Android mobile) is not able to see the device.  I switched the unit from DHCP to static on my router but this didn't make any difference.   So I'm in this odd LAN-YES/WAN-NO land with no way to reset the unit. Is it time to take this unit down to my local municipality's old tech recycling hill (in a remote section of my county where I find fresh scavenger/dinosaur foot prints around the trash heaps... no doubt the product of some local teenage pranksters... I hope)?

Hi goodbot,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. A few questions: what Chromecast device are you using? Did it work on this network before? Has there been any change to the network? Regarding the steps that you tried, kindly click this link to properly do a factory reset. Proceed with the setup, then let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy
