Media in Google Home App

ImpiousOne

I have a Chrome cast audio that I used with Google Home.  My Google Home app autoupdated.  On the previous version of the Home app there was a Media button on the homepage when the app opened.  I could just tap on it and YouTube Music would play through the Home app.  After the update, I can not find how to do this.  The homepage changed and within the app I can not find the Media option to just play my default media player (YT Music) through the app.

How can I play my default media player through the updated Home app?

Hey folks,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

For you to access media on the Google Home app, you will need to tap the speaker where the music is playing. Visit this link to learn more about the new Google Home app features.

Hope this helps.

When I tap the speaker I want the media played to, the *only* option is to cast audio.  As I stated, I do *not* want to cast audio.  I want to play the media through the Home app.

Hey ImpiousOne,

Sorry for the confusion. Make sure that there's music playing on the speaker before tapping it and controlling the media playing.

I don't want to play music before opening Home or controlling the speaker.  That was the entire purpose of my question.  Before the update, the Home app itself had a "Media" button I could click to play music through the home app.  That is what I want to do.  Start playing music through the media button in the Home app.   I dont want to cast.  I dont want to already be playing music.  I want to start playing music through the app exactly the same as I could do before the update with the Media button in the Home app.

Hey folks,

Please note that with the new Google Home app, the option to cast music at your speakers has been removed. As an alternative, you can cast music from our cast-enabled apps like YouTube Music, Spotify, and Pandora.

We know this is not the best answer that you're looking for, I suggest that you send feedback on the Google Home app. Learn more about how to send feedback on our Help Center.

Hey Junkie,

To confirm, is it about the media button?
