Missing emails about topic updates -- chromecast ultra power supply

(1) Where to find Ultra Power Supply - Google Nest Community

Hi -- I never received a notice that someone had replied to my post, but here is the issue.

The Chromecast Ultra limits resolution unless it is attached to its smart adapter, I thought. So a broken adapter means that I will be unable to stream 4k -- am I right about this? Is this regardless of the power capabilities of the power supply?

Thanks!

Hello Derim,

Thanks for reaching out. No, the power capabilities of the power supply doesn't affect the resolution of your Chromecast Ultra. You only need this to power your device and to be able to use it.

To watch movies and TV shows in 4K Ultra High-Definition (HD) and 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) content using Chromecast Ultra, you need the following:

  • A strong Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection
    • A high-speed internet connection of at least 20 Mbps (Recommended)
  • A 4K compatible HDTV (Check sample models below)
  • An High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) port that supports both High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) 2.2 and 60 frames per second (60 FPS). (Check sample models below and check the TV manual for more information.)
    • If you're using an Audio/Video Receiver (AVR) or soundbar, you will also need to support HDCP 2.2.
  • 4K programming from content providers (may require subscription).
    • Example: Netflix subscription plan
  • A high speed HDMI cable when an AVR is part of the environment.
    • Recommended length: Less than 6 feet (1.8 meters).

Thanks,

Jennifer

Jennifer -- thanks for the information! I saw a few others with messages about using an "unsupported power supply" limiting resolution. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
