Motorola G62 Crashes When Casting Kinomap Video

Ozz

I'm having issues with my Motorola G62 which causes the cast to Chromecast with Google TV (HD) to crash (the TV reverts to the Google TV home screen)  when using the videos on the Kinomap app. This also happened when using Google Chromecast.

I reverted to my previous Huawei phone, and it works perfectly using the same setup.

Any ideas?

Hi Ozz,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Did you have a chance to cast the same app (the Kinomap app) using your Huawei phone? And is it only happening on that app when casting from your Motorola G62? If it’s isolated to that app on your Motorola phone only, then this is related to the phone. Something installed or perhaps some settings (phone settings or app settings) are causing the crash. But if this happens on both phones using the same app, then it could be network-related (source server or DNS). Try to perform a sequential reboot on all involved devices (phone, TV, router, Chromecast device, etc.) and reinstall the affected app. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy

The app works on the Huawei phone and only crashes on the G62. It's only the video element that freezes on the G62 the rest of the app carries on working.

Hello Ozz,

Thanks for the reply. This means there’s something on the Motorola G62 that causes this crash. This phone, being connected to the same WiFi network as the Chromecast device, allows communication. The Kinomap app installed on this phone gives the casting command to the Chromecast device via this phone’s mode of communication with WiFi (WLAN). Now it could be an interruption in the app, which then causes the phone to stop the cast on the Chromecast device. It could also be the phone itself getting interrupted with its communication with the Chromecast device due to certain settings on the Kinomap app or settings on the phone that are being triggered while the app is running. I suggest you contact Motorola or Kinomap app developers for more information as well.

Thanks Kimy, I've already tried Kinomap support and they can't help. I'll try and cast a few more videos from different apps asI tend to only cast when using Kinomap to see if I get any similar issues before contacting Motorola.

Hi there,

Thanks for the details, @Ozz. It makes sense that Kinomap support couldn’t find anything from their end. After all, it works on your other phone. Provide the complete details with Motorola support. Inform them that all other apps are casting well with your Chromecast device except the Kinomap app, yet it works well with another phone on the same Chromecast device. Let us know if you have other questions.

Best,

Kimy
