New Chromecast HD with problems with multi room and ambient screensaver.

Hello!

I have the new Google TV HD Chromecast, with newest firmware available and apps are up to date.

 

2 problems,

It is not working in a speaker Group in Google Home, can create the group with both devices but cannot select speaker group after i created the group, with voice or manually select speaker group from media in google home also not possible.

if i select the group in spotify, it works correct!

From media in Google Home i can select the Google TV HD Chromecast with another google speaker together without problems. Without selecting the group.

And the other problem is, ambient mode not working. It goes to ambient screen and after a few seconds it displays the home page of the Chromecast again.

I also have feedback about the setup of a new Chromecast , the Chromecast was directly installing the system update, perfect! But it has not updated the apps, so 11 updates where not installed before installation of Chromecast, apps as tv setup where missing before the setup.

I am also missing the join the preview program function for Chromecast HD.

Other people with the same problems?

*Update
I Factory reset the device, without the system update, but exact same problems.

Installed the Chromecast V3 again, ambient and speaker group problems solved.

Anyone? Didn’t hear from Google or other Chromecast HD users.

Disabled hdmi CEC

Disabled system sounds

Selected never seamless frames

 

And ambient is working correct now!

1 problem left, voice sound, cannot do this at this time after asking to play on speaker group.

An update, if i cast from an app like Tunein or Spotify directly to the speaker group it works correct.

So the problem looks like its with the assistent only.

I apologize for the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that speaker group issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as it sounds like all this troubleshooting has been quite the headache. In this scenario, I would double-check that your Google Home and Google Assistant apps are both up-to-date. Also check for any updates on the Chromecast device itself. If the problems persist, go ahead and clear out the cached app data on both the Google Home and the Google Assistant apps.

Thank you for your time, I decided to buy again the Chromecast v3. I receive this tomorrow. Everything worked well with this setup.

No its not solved, support is bad. Sended alot of feedback without any answers.

I think the problem is the assistent version on the Chromecast. If i am using the Google TV remote assistent it always say ‘it isn't possible yet’

Everything is up to date, apps, system, IOS on Apple product.

I am out of options, this is why i decided to go back to old Chromecast and send the Google TV HD back. 4K version has the same problem.

What can i do else?

I'm really sorry to hear that the Chromecast with Google TV devices had so many issues with your setup! It's interesting that the Google Assistant would have issues with these devices in particular. You mentioned you've already submitted feedback in the past, which should help Google Engineers locate issues if there are any errors in the device logs. You mentioned you also had issues with Chromecast Support, was this through calls or online chats? If you still have any case numbers, I'd be happy to pull up the cases to see what I can do. However, if you were never able to reach support, I could have a Chromecast Agent reach out to you via e-mail.

Dear Jeran,

 

it started with a TV with Android TV, no support for multiroom audio.

After this TV i have try a Google TV, same problem.

Now i am having an normal tv also with android, with an extra Chromecast. 

All support cases end up with no response or i had enough of it and asked to close the case.

This is the case number for this problem:

4-4402000033445.

Don't now if i want to wait longer, now i can get my money back because i am not satisfied. Tomorrow i will receive the Chromecast v3, and if this solve my problem i am satisfied enough.

Hey there Richard_b,

 

I'm glad to hear that the 3rd Generation Chromecast works properly, but it's strange how the Chromecast with Google TV was having those issues. When you were talking with support, did they have you send any error logs or submit feedback in any way? It could either point to a bug with the Chromecast, or an issue with your particular device. Regardless, I'm glad to hear the original setup works just fine.

Yes send a lot of feedback and screenshots. Don’t know what it is, but i am done with Chromecast with Android 😉.

Of course, I totally understand where you're coming from. If a device gave me this many issues, I know I would feel the same way as you do. In the meantime, is there anything else I can address or assist with today?
