New chromecast can’t be controlled with Google speaker

I’ve just set up this new device after the old style chromecast kept losing wifi.

The new remote is great but we seem to have lost the option for us to ask the Google speakers to play X show on the tv. This has been handy for kids who know full well what they want to watch and don’t need to trawl through hours of content.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! Just to double-check, is your new Chromecast with Google TV connected to the Google Home app? If so, you should be able to ask your Google Speaker to play different apps on the Chromecast. Go ahead and check out this article on how to get that set up, as well as see if the app you are using supports this feature.
