No Live tab in Australia

If Live tab is not supported in Australia, why do we pay more for the device than US does?

Hi ChrisB72,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. The Live feature doesn’t affect the price of the device. It’s just that it is not supported yet in some countries. Once the feature is available in a particular country, the price of the device will still be the same. Let us know if you still have questions.

Thanks,

Kimy

Thanks for your reply Kimy. What does affect the price in Aus? It is 30% more expensive. All the hardware comes from the same place, China.

Hi there,

I’m sorry, but I don’t really have any information about this. But just like any other product from different manufacturers or companies that operate in multiple countries, the price really differs depending on the destination country. Different factors affect pricing, such as country laws (consumer rights, material restrictions, etc.), local partners (distribution, logistics, couriers, etc.), taxes, other fees, etc. Let us know if you still have any other concerns.

Cheers,

Kimy

When does the live tab come in Australia? That was my main reason to buy that chromecast thing just then. How do I watch normal telly with that thing?

Yep, we get screwed over by this device which has features enabled in North America, but here in Australia we pay more for less.

When I bought it, I too thought that we might get the free to air services streaming via the Live tab. And here we are, years later, and still waiting. But, there might be hope coming.

On August 31 we will finally get Pluto TV (via Channel 10/Paramount), which if this is released the same as in North America it should finally enable the Live tab. THIS, I hope will finally pressure FreeTV Australia (and their broadcasters) into engaging with Google to add their live TV services onto the Live tab. If they don't, then they deserve to continue their slow death.

Well, it looks like we continue to be #ScrewedByGoogle.

Despite in the US the Pluto TV channels being accessible in the CCwGTV Live tab, the recent limited release of Pluto TV channels by Channel 10 are not on the Live tab in Australia.

FFS Google. Why are you so incompetent? CCwGTV continues to be my most underperforming and underwhelming household device.

Hi folks,

You can install the Pluto TV app. Although it may not trigger the Live TV tab, it would still work just like your usual apps. I understand your desire to have the feature, as I personally want it in my country as well. I suggest you send feedback via Settings > Help and Feedback. You can also try this link: Send feedback from the Google Home app.

Thanks,

Kimy
