For days the device doesn't output anything every morning I turn on the TV. Have tried other HDMI ports and have done a factory reset.
I need to pull the power cable and reconnect it again to get the CC to restart and then it goes into the Home screen as normal. After this all works fine for the rest of the watching session until the next morning when I need to repeat the process.
On occasions the remote is unresponsive and I have to set up the remote again (using the virtual remote on the phone). The batteries are ok and the buttons that control the TV volume and input work. Please help, this is annoying.

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. There’s an ongoing update that will be completed in the coming days. This is one of the recognized bugs that is included in the patch fix. Once you have the update available, make sure to install it. If it's not available yet, give it a few more days. Let us know if you have other concerns.
