I have a Pixel 5 that I am trying to use with Chromecast Google TV. I have used the pixel phone to cast to Chromecast and the number of pauses are making TV unwatchable. I have tried mirroring the pixel 5 screen to Chromecast. The mirroring does work better, but something is still not right. The Chromecast picture will freeze while the Pixel mirroring continues on the phone. It takes awhile but eventually the picture on the TV screen will catch up with the phone. This happens several times while I am mirroring the Pixel phone screen. I have ensured the Pixel phone and Chromecast are on the same network. I have reset the Pixel phone and the Chromecast several times, with no improvement of the pausing. I am at my wits end. Any ideas?

Is it a standalone Chromecast dongle that you can plug into any TV or is it a TV with built-in Chromecast?

It is a Chromecast Google TV and it plugs into the Samsung TV box.

This pausing happens quite often when I stream TV shows through my phone to Chromecast.

Hi there,
Thanks for the help, DavidPierson.
sinking, I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Chromecast. Let's sort this out.
Has the same issue occurred when watching directly from the app installed in the Chromecast with Google TV? Instead of mirroring your phone's screen to TV, could you please try to manually cast from a Chromecast-enabled app and check if the same issue persists? Please also try to reboot your Chromecast and Wi-Fi router. Plugging in the Chromecast with Google TV on a different HDMI port on your TV and resetting it might also help.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Hi sinking,
My experience is that mirroring - where the same plays on the device i.e. PC or phone - and also on Chromecast - does not work well and I get pausing and buffering.
However, playing only on the Chromecast doesn't buffer or pause for me.
Can you go back to playing only on the Chromecast Google TV gadget?
Which sources have had this with? Netflix, Youtube, ... ?

Hi everyone. I have tried all the solutions that have been suggested here, and whatever I could find online. Nothing stopped the pausing. I switched to an older tower I had. The tower has 12G RAM and it has not paused once. I guess the extra RAM was what I needed. Thanks.

That's surprising. The reason I saw this is, unless you are mirroring, the device that starts the casting - i.e. the PC/phone - is not part of the transmission once it gets under way.
A good way to test this, to switch off the initiating device after you have got the casting going. If the casting stops, then something isn't working right.

Hi folks,
Thanks for the help, DavidPierson.
sinking, thanks for the additional info. I would suggest that you also try to use a different mobile phone so we can isolate the issue if it's with the Chromecast or the casting device you're using.
Thanks,
Jennifer
