How do I record a program while watching it? And how do I set a series to record?

Chromecast does not support recording programs.

Whether you can record a program or not depends on the service.

For instance, you cannot record Netflix.  But you can record YouTube TV.

And, yes, you can tell YouTube TV to record an entire series.  I do that all the time.   Search for the title of the series and click on the "+" button to add it to your library.
